Preview, Adventure Second Prime: The Battle Scarred Student

“You’re nothing special, so I’m going to give it to you easy” A large dark-skinned man said in a deep menacing voice.

A boy who looked to be about sixteen years old looked up at the large man. They were both in what could be considered an underground dungeon, though it was expansive. The large man overbearingly stood over the young man and had a slight grin on his face. The boy tried to move to the side to get away but the man shoved him back forcefully, causing the boy to collapse on the ground.

“I guess I don’t know my strength heh heh” The large man said proudly.

“Don’t worry kid, this is nothing personal. You can blame one boy who thought that he was something special” The large man said evilly.

The large man grabbed the teenager by the neck and opened his palm. A large black fire erupted from the palm of the man’s free hand. The man thrust the hand into the boy’s head and pulled out what looked like a small orange flame. The man crushed the flame, engulfing it with his black flame.

“You’re not gonna die, but you’re not gonna be anything special either” The large man said as he threw the boy against the wall forcefully.

Meanwhile, at Byron Limit High School…

*Emery Acer, that is the name of a young man who proved himself to be a person who is able to stand up to his fears and fight alongside his friends who followed him into certain peril. Though Emery’s own conflict between his desire to be a hero and his desire toward violence were his own, they had been amplified by one who wanted to see Emery consumed by it. Orion and his squad had been defeated by Emery and his friends who had all just about discovered their newfound powers on the same day they were pitted on the battlefield. But that victory was somewhat of a lucky break and was only short-lived…*

The gymnasium at Limit High School had been turned into a ballroom. Where the basketball hoops were, there were now tables with fruit punch and party snacks. On one side of the gym was a large speaker system and the rest of the gym was a large dance floor. On that dance floor were a sparse yet numerous amount of high schoolers dressed in formal attire.  It was the end of fall semester and this night, the winter formal at Byron Limit High School.

It was a wintry wonderland, as the ballroom was decorated with large crystalline snowflakes hanging from the ceiling. Powdery artificial snow was everywhere, and the colors blue and white were everywhere. Despite all of this, there was anything but a chill in the air.

It was just the beginning of the event but students were already dancing and having fun. Cheesy 90’s music was playing but that didn’t stop the students from taking to the dance floor. Students were still arriving, and the excitement was building as friends greeted friends. At this point, none of those in the Adventure club were at the dance.

Enter, stage right, one Kiran East and on his arm was none other than Trisha Rojo. This was the same Kiran who was kicked off the boxing team and later inspired to join a certain hero club. This was also the same Trisha who laughed at the very idea of a hero club and was the school’s only evil empress. What could account for this very unlikely pairing? Let us find out.

Kiran walked into the auditorium with Trisha, her arm around his arm. Trisha was smiling and Kiran looked slightly puzzled, like he was eyeing the room for something. With Kiran’s free hand, he scratched the side of his forehead.

“I thought the rest of the crew woulda been here by now. Emery better be here” Kiran said, feigning disappointment despite his excitement.

Trisha caught herself before her slight scowl became a full grimace and tried to smile a toothy smile. She squeezed closer to Kiran and looked up at him.

“Don’t worry about it Ran. You’re here with me and that’s all that matters” Trisha said assuredly.

Gonna just shorten my name like that, Kiran thought as he looked around the ballroom.

“Uh yeah it’s always nice to be in the company of such a beauty!” Kiran said, trying to be cheery.

Though I’m not sure if her inside got a makeover yet, Kiran thought.

“Let’s dance!” Trisha exclaimed.

Trisha used both of her hands and pulled Kiran to the middle of the dance floor.

“Ah why not!” Kiran said excitedly as he picked up his pace to match Trisha’s.

Kiran and Trisha headed to the center of the dance floor. Trisha spontaneously broke out into a graceful two-step. Kiran goofed off, trying different dance moves.

“So why’d you ask me to be your date anyway?” Kiran asked loudly.

“You’re the strongest guy in the school, and I like strong guys” Trisha said with a smile.

“Yeah I am pretty diesel but…” Kiran said in a flattered tone.

“Why are you questioning me?” Trisha said, with an intense look on her face.

Kiran stopped in the middle of dancing “The Robot” for a few seconds. “To be honest with you, I was thinking about saying no because I heard how mean you were to my friends. But one of them said that I’d be missing out on a really great girl” Kiran said unusually sincerely.

“One of them said that?” Trisha said in disbelief.

“Yeah…” Kiran said.

I only asked him because I thought Kamie would be jealous, Trisha thought, I can still control her.

“…that was Kamie” Kiran finished.

Trisha was so shocked that she stopped dancing gracefully and almost collapsed onto the dance floor. Kiran held out his hand and grabbed her arm before she actually fell. Trisha looked up at Kiran and blushed.

I guess I’m proud of her for being able to control me, Trisha thought as Kiran helped her up.

“Truth is, I don’t think I’m as tough as her date. I heard he once beat a professional assassin in battle” Kiran said proudly.

“Wow!” Trisha exclaimed, somewhat in disbelief.

I’ll have to steal him from her, Trisha thought with a slight smile.

Right as Trisha was thinking about stealing Kamie’s mystery guy, Kamie walked into the auditorium with her arm around Derek’s. Derek looked really rigid and nervous while Kamie just looked nervous. If Kiran and Trisha being together was unlikely, the moon must have turned blue as Kamie and Derek walked in.

Derek looked around the auditorium as they walked in and saw Kiran on the dance floor. Derek waved enthusiastically to Kiran and Kiran waved back, before flashing Derek a thumbs up. Trisha was assured, and was glad that Kiran was joking.

“That little monkey couldn’t beat his way out of a wet paper bag!” Trisha blurted out.

“Whatever you say but I have my sources… And why’re you so far away?” Kiran said emphatically.

Kiran romantically grabbed Trisha and twirled her around before dipping her, like they do in the movies. Trisha blushed again as she looked up at Kiran. Kiran smiled back.

My pops taught me a thing or two about how to woo the ladies too! Kiran thought.

Kamie and Derek looked at each other after watching Kiran from the punch bowl. Kamie gathered the courage to talk to Derek as he looked like a stone wall. She wasn’t sure what he was thinking.

“Thanks Derek for asking me to the dance. I didn’t think I’d go if you didn’t ask” Kamie said sincerely, her face turning pink.

But not as much as I wanted to go with her! Derek thought.

“Yeah I guess all of that stress plus schoolwork is a lot to deal with” Derek said, trying to sound cool.

However despite his attempts to seem cool, Derek’s face was turning red. Derek quickly poured himself a cup of punch.

“Why don’t we join them on the dance floor!” Derek exclaimed as he put his full cup of punch right in front of the bowl.

“Sure thing!” Kamie exclaimed.

Kamie and Derek walked quickly to the dance floor and both of them started to show each other goofy dance moves. Derek took her hands in his and they started swinging their arms and doing all sorts of improvised dancing.

Meanwhile Grey and Annie had arrived at the same time as Ken and Rina. Grey looked over at Ken before they entered the auditorium.

“You did good for yourself, Mr. Swordsman” Grey said jovially.

“You’re not so bad yourself American playa” Ken said, as jovially as he could.

Rina cut Grey a look that was sharper than a dagger.

“Will you two cut it out! Geez!” Rina exclaimed.

Annie looked at Grey, they weren’t holding arms or anything, unlike Rina and Ken whose arms were linked.

“Yeah I’m only here because you asked me!” Annie exclaimed to Grey.

I was trying to avoid him while waiting for Emery to ask me, Annie thought, I even asked Emery and…

“That loser turned me down!” Annie blurted out.

“The only thing that matters is that you’re with THE man” Grey said confidently.

“Oh sorry Grey. I do like being here with you too” Annie said, trying to reassure Grey.

The two pairs walked into the auditorium together. Grey threw up a peace sign and Ken put his fist in the air. Almost everyone in the auditorium turned around to look at them, because they seemed cool the way they just posed. Kiran and Derek waved at them from the dance floor.

“I bet that loser isn’t even going to show up” Annie said to herself.

“C’mon do you really think he’s a loser?” Rina asked, looking at Annie.

“Well no… But I do wonder about him sometimes” Annie said, trying to seem condescending.

Right then Gary walked into the room, and he was holding hands with an older girl named Sophia, from the volleyball team. Gary looked nervous but someone walked up to him and fixed his collar.

“You’ll be the hero of the dance” The guy said nonchalantly.

Gary now seemed more confident and looked back at the guy.

“Thanks Emery!” Gary exclaimed.

Jan Right walked over to Emery and tried to put her arm in his. The two pairs walked into the auditorium at the same time. Annie had a puzzled expression on her face as she watched them walk into the auditorium. There were no fists in the air or peace signs. Jan smiled as all of her friends were waving enthusiastically.

Jan blushed while holding Emery’s arm, though Emery’s arm was straight and not bent in the customary manner. Annie ran over and punched Emery in the side and then bent his arm for him.

“Jerk! That’s how you’re supposed to escort the lady!” Annie exclaimed, slightly angry.

Jan put her arm in Emery’s newly bent arm.

“Ouch… Thanks Annie” Emery said.

Annie turned around, folded her arms and began to walk away.

“Annie!” Jan exclaimed.

“Don’t talk to me Jan!” Annie exclaimed.

“I was the one…” Jan started.

“Who said yes when I asked you!” Emery said quickly.

I actually asked him, Jan thought, but I told him too much.

I wasn’t going to go but she walked up to me and asked, Emery thought, and then told me she liked me.

Jan quickly pushed Emery aside and walked over to Annie.

“See ya! Friend!” Jan said playfully.

Annie gave her a high five and they linked arms, and walked onto the dance floor.

Maybe I shouldn’t have said that she caught me off guard, Emery thought, we’ve been friends for the longest.

Emery followed them onto the dance floor. The whole Adventure club ran over to talk to Emery. Trisha folded her arms, because Kiran had left her alone on the dance floor.

A few minutes later everybody was busting a groove on the dance floor. And just Emery was doing the fishing man move, he was interrupted as the auditorium doors bust off the hinges and slid across the floor.

Two people walked into the auditorium, as if it was normal to enter that way.

“This’ll be the first time I’m enjoying a dance” A tall guy with long whitish-blonde hair said.

“Same here Orion” Magellian said as he looked around the auditorium.

“I really like the blue and white deco” Magellian continued.

“Yeah just gonna cut loose and liven up the party” Orion said in a cool and casual tone.

Orion walked up to a football player and pushed him aside forcefully while walking past him.

“Hey buddy watch where you’re going!” The football player, Pete, said.

“You’re forgetting the ‘or else’ part” Orion said.

“Or else I’ll SMASH…” Pete yelled as he threw a punch.

Emery grabbed his wrist before Pete was able to land his punch on Orion.

“Why’d ya stop me Emery! This townie had it comin’!” Pete exclaimed angrily.

“He’s too strong for you” Emery said calmly.

“And that’s comin’ from you?” Pete said sarcastically.

“You better believe it” Emery said.

“You think you pack a punch Acer! You handle him then!” Pete said as he walked away.

Emery looked Orion in the eyes.

“What are you doing here?!” Emery asked.

“Just having fun with kids my age” Orion said nonchalantly.

“You couldn’t use the door like everyone else?” Emery asked.

“I pushed the door a little too hard” Orion said.

“I want to dance” Orion said, as he walked away from Emery.

Orion walked over to Annie who was watching from the dance floor. Annie looked up at him, slightly fearful of him.

“Dance with me” Orion demanded.

“Umm no” Annie said tensely.

Magellian walked over to Jan.

“And I want you to do that hip-hop grinding” Magellian said, not caring about seeming rude.

Magellian grabbed Jan’s forearm and pulled Jan toward him. Emery was briskly walking over to Magellian.

“Don’t worry Emery I got this” Kiran said with confidence.

Kiran punched Magellian in the stomach and he fell backwards onto the ground.

“I’ve been training a bit” Kiran said looking at his fist.

Magellian sat up and looked at Kiran. Orion helped Magellian to his feet.

“We’ve been training too, and we want to show everyone our moves!” Orion exclaimed.

“Despair Intensify” Orion said calmly.

Darkness filled the room as bluish-black electric jolts fired around Orion. Weaker people on the dance floor passed out, but no one from the Adventure club was affected.

“He’s not the only one” Magellian said.

“Clockwork Intensify” Magellian exclaimed.

As Magellian’s body started to shine, it seemed like time was going slower in the room. Emery tried to walk toward Orion but he felt like he was moving in ultra slow motion.

“Our combo of slowing time and absolute dark power is enough to defeat everyone in your little ‘hero’ club” Orion said with a scowl.

“H…e…r…o……I…” Emery said, but the words were coming out very slowly.

Magellian ran toward Grey and Rina and knocked them out quickly with well placed punches to the stomach. Orion, who wasn’t affected by the slowed time, sped over to Emery.

“I…n…t…e…” Emery said, still trying to intensify.

Orion held out his right hand and it became engulfed in dark blue energy.

“This punch will destroy your living cells and also destroy your face” Orion said as he wound up his fist.

Orion threw his punch at Emery who made no move to defend. Right before Orion hit Emery’s nose, a man sped through the scene in a flash. The man blocked the punch with a hand that was glowing gold.

“I can’t have you disrupting a school dance!” The man shouted.

The man was dressed in a tie, a dress shirt, and black slacks. He had long grey hair and a mustache. It was Emery’s study-hall teacher, who was also the history teacher at Byron Limit High school.

“How… could a teacher be fighting us?” Orion said in disbelief.

“Don’t underestimate the power of First Prime, kid!” Mr. Rando exclaimed.

“Legendary blow!” Rando shouted as he followed his block with an incredible blow to Orion’s face which sent him careening out of the window and into the sky.

Magellian looked over to Mr. Rando apprehensively.

“I guess I’ll make my exit” Magellian said as he jumped out of the window and followed Orion’s body, which was still airborne

Time sped up back to normal for the dance goers and students began getting back up. Most of those just regaining consciousness were confused and all were unaware of what had just happened.

“Damage Control!” Rando exclaimed quickly.

Immediately following those words, the windows and the doors were back to normal, as if they had never been broken. The DJ who had just came to, shrugged and changed the song. Most of the students didn’t notice and began to start dancing again.

“I thought I was a goner,” Emery said.

Mr. Rando was now standing next to Emery.

“Well isn’t it a good thing that there are dependable chaperones?” Mr. Rando said cheerfully.

“What?” Emery asked, sarcastically trying to sound dumbfounded.

“If you have a minute, I would like to talk with you Emery,” Mr. Rando said. He was looking intensely into Emery’s eyes.

Rando began to walk toward the doors. Emery followed him as he walked. He knew that it was Rando who defeated Orion but didn’t want to believe it.

“Who’s going to tend to the students who passed out?” Emery asked.

“There are other chaperones” Mr. Rando said, as he opened the door.

The two walked into the hallway. Mr. Rando took the lead and walked Emery into an empty classroom.

“Do you know what happened back in the dance, kid?” Mr. Rando asked.

“Some townies tried to crash the dance,” Emery said, pretending to be oblivious.

“Ah, so you really didn’t see what I did, or did you?” Mr. Rando asked.

“That was you?” Emery asked.

“I know all about that battle you had in November with those rookies from Dissent,” Mr. Rando said, referring to Emery’s fight against Orion’s group.

“Yeah just a play fight in the forest, nothing for an old guy like you to get excited about…” Emery said in a standoffish tone.

“This ‘old guy’ was stationed there on that very same day, watching you guys flip and flop to beat them. I would have kicked all their asses myself if I saw any of you guys get seriously hurt,” Mr. Rando said blusterously.

“You… were the guy that Orion was talking about?” Emery asked in disbelief.

“Exactly, the guy that made him almost crap his pants thinking about the power he sensed. He might not have said it, but he was close to running away, despite all his talk of taking care of me himself,” Mr. Rando said seemingly proud of himself.

“So what’s First Prime?” Emery asked.

“They… are the good guys,” Mr. Rando said.

Rando looked off to the side and then back at Emery. He continued to fill Emery in.

“I’ve been a member since I was about your age” Mr. Rando said with a nostalgic smile on his face.

“That’s a heck of a long time. But you’ve got a steady day job and I don’t see you charging out of here for missions” Emery said bluntly.

“Ha no kid, I’m an elite. I’m only called on for the big missions. What I want to talk with you about are the arrangements for your training under me. You have no idea how to use your powers, what their origins are, and how to create new strategies for offense and defense. The good thing about your last fight was that they were amateurs just like you. Dissent has a cruel way of training their members, making them cause as much destruction as they can. Orion’s group was probably created just to start as much crime as they could” Mr. Rando said.

“How do you know about Dissent’s policies?” Emery asked.

“It’s a long story. Anyone in First Prime should know at least some of their strategy” Mr. Rando said nonchalantly.

“If I didn’t save you tonight, I believe the center of your face would have been reduced to bone and it wouldn’t have been pretty. I have reason to believe that he’s started training under someone powerful and he’s going to want a rematch” Mr. Rando said.

“He couldn’t have done that to me! I beat him before!” Emery exclaimed.

“That’s fine if you want plastic surgery. Anyway if you want to be a ‘hero’ like you say you do then you’ll need a sensei. I will even have the school reinstate your Adventure club here, just as long as I’m the club’s ‘advisor’” Rando said.

“Why do you want me to train under you? And why do you want to train my friends? What’s in it for you?” Emery asked skeptically.

“There are a number of reasons. First, I nor First Prime will let you or your friends have free reign over you powers. Second, Dissent will be sending more powerful persons to hunt you guys down. Lastly, I want to see you become a hero, because it’s your destiny” Mr. Rando said.

“Alright Adventure Club’s Advisor, the last meeting of the semester is next week” Emery said enthusiastically.

No more questions now, huh, Mr. Rando thought.

“Monday at 3pm sharp!” Mr. Rando sternly said.

“Everyone’s gonna be psyched to hear we got an advisor!” Emery exclaimed.

“Ahem. Yes, you, Kiran, Jan, Ken, and Derek. No one else” Mr. Rando said.

“Grey, Annie, Kamie, and Rina are a part of the group too!” Emery exclaimed.

“They will only hinder our progress in the future. And I cannot unlock anyone’s prime, it’s just not ethical. It has to be awakened naturally. If that fight wasn’t sufficient to awaken them, I don’t think they would ever awaken. And pitting them up against stronger, more malevolent enemies will not help them more than sending to certain death. However there is one way…” Mr. Rando said.

“How?” Emery asked.

“You have to use communication on them, which is very painful. You do remember when Orion did it to you and it felt like your head was melting. He actually wasn’t causing that pain, he wanted to make sure that your prime power was capable of externalizing, which it very much was. For someone who has zero prime awareness it would feel like their skulls are being fried, and for no reason because it would be fruitless. They would resent you forever” Mr. Rando said.

“Then how did Kiran and everyone become super powered?” Emery asked.

“Spontaneous priming is rare, it must have been something about your passion and your leadership that helped them realize their power. You should be proud” Mr. Rando said.

“Now that I think about it, I didn’t want everyone to be put in that situation. They only followed me out there because they didn’t want me going on a suicide mission, just to face my problems. There has to be another way to bring our their powers though” Emery said thoughtfully.

“It seems like you’ve got a lot of thinking and responsibility now. I’ll leave the rest up to you” Mr. Rando said.

Mr. Rando got up and pretended to do the shimmy.

“Anyway go head and bust a move with your date!” Mr. Rando exclaimed.

“I don’t think the dance is still going on…” Emery said.

“It is. I fixed the window and the broken doors plus all of the broken tables. Everything happened in under ten seconds and most everyone just thought it was an accident. They couldn’t even notice my fixing the damage using Damage Control. By the way it’s one of my advanced time-space powers. Go get that slow dance!” Mr. Rando said.

“Whatever you say Mr. Rando” Emery said.

Emery walked out of the classroom and went back to the auditorium. Mr. Rando followed Emery back to the dance.

“Call me Master Rando, Rando Sensei, or Super Rando Home Slice!” Rando said enthusiastically.

“I’ll call you Rando” Emery said bluntly.

Mr. Rando looked disappointed and slowed his pace so that Emery would go back without him.

“Until later” Mr. Rando said.

Emery walked back into the ballroom and everyone was dancing as if nothing had ever happened. Everyone in the Adventure club though was sitting down at the side of the auditorium. They seemed like they were engrossed in conversation until Emery came back.

“Yo” Emery said.

“Where’d you go with Mr. Rando? I saw what happened. Orion was about to turn you into ground beef and then Rando blocked his punch and sent him flying out the window!” Kiran said excitedly.

“I saw it too” Jan said knowingly.

“I did see Mr. Rando block…” Derek said.

“I think I saw it…” Annie said.

“But you are all forgetting when he waved his hand and the windows and tables were fixed like someone rewound a tape” Ken said.

“What? I just thought that… But how?!” Kiran asked, wondering if that was really Mr. Rando.

“Some may not notice as everything happened within seconds” Ken said.

Grey folded his arms smugly and had a defiant look on his face.

“I saw everything!” Grey exclaimed, apparently boasting if not bluffing.

“I saw dark energy floating around Orion, but it was moving fast… nothing else” Rina said.

Kamie put one of her fists to the side of her head and looked at everyone with a puzzled expression.

“All of you guys saw a lot more than me!” Kamie exclaimed.

“It’s OK Kamie, I was surprised and I couldn’t even react. We were all powerless” Emery said.

“So what did Mr. Rando tell you? I bet he wants to train everyone” Kiran said.

“He does. But… Is this what you guys want? They’re only going to get stronger. Orion’s group was weak according to Rando. You guys can’t really want to keep putting your lives on the line” Emery said.

“If Mr. Rando can do it and teach then I don’t see how it would get in the way of living” Jan said.

“But I put everyone through so much” Emery said.

“We all decided to fight and nothing bad happened” Annie said, not mentioning how she was hurt.

Rina said nothing and folded her arms.

“Not all of us can be trained right?” Ken asked.

“Yeah… He said Annie, Kamie, Grey, and Rina can’t be involved” Emery said.

“I was thinking about quitting anyway” Grey said nonchalantly.

“Yeah me too, if it’s getting in your way” Annie said.

“Yeah we’re going to start an after-school mall club!” Kamie blurted out.

“You know it!” Rina exclaimed.

“How can you guys be so carefree about this?” Emery asked.

“I’m gonna start my own hero club with these guys” Grey said, motioning toward Rina and Annie.

“If we can’t be in yours we’ll just have to find a way to get stronger and then join yours!” Annie exclaimed.

Kamie looked at Rina who looked back at her. They were both taken aback by Annie’s fervor to be in Emery’s group. Emery was also taken back by it.

“But” Emery said.

“Just leave this one to me. We’ll come back and be stronger” Grey said, pointing to himself with his thumb.

“There is a way” Emery said.

“To make us stronger?” Grey asked

“But it’s painful” Emery admitted.

“We’ll skip on that… We’ll get stronger on our own terms. And if you have any painless ideas relay them to me” Grey said.

“I know I’m really late on this, but doesn’t it seem like Grey just wants to be alone with three girls” Derek said jovially.

Derek then folded his arms, pretending to be mad.

“No one asked me if I wanted to fight for the rest of my life” Derek said, not authentically angry.

Kiran got up and put Derek in a headlock, then gave him nuggies.

“Are you gonna fight with us?” Kiran asked threateningly.

Derek tapped Kiran’s forearm desperately and Kiran let him out of his hold.

“Whatever” Derek said dismissively.

“Excuse me guys… I don’t want to be a bother but I don’t know where I fit. All I did was pass out and when I came to you guys were talking about all of this extreme stuff. I don’t fit in with you guys” Gary said, with a worried look on his face.

“What are you talking about bro? You’re in my group now and that’s way better than being in Emery’s” Grey said confidently.

“Are you sure you’re OK with this everyone?” Emery asked.

“Yeah man we know when we’re holding you guys back” Grey said.

“…and we’re not going to get in your way in the next battle you have” Grey continued.

Within seconds, the lights in the room dimmed even further.

“Here you go youngsters, tha slow dance of the night!” The DJ said into the mic.

Trisha ran over from the punch bowl and grabbed Kiran. Kiran looked back at everyone, smiled, and waved. Ken looked over at Rina.

“Rina” Ken said.

Rina turned her head to pretend that she wasn’t listening to him. Ken took her hand and she followed him onto the dance floor. Derek got up and held out his arm for Kamie to put hers in.

“So are you comin’ or what?” Derek asked confidently.

“Sure!” Kamie exclaimed as she got up and put her hand in Derek’s arm.

Now Grey, Annie, Emery and Jan were left. Grey looked impatient and Emery was kind of fidgeting in his seat. Jan shyly looked at her hands which were resting in her lap. Annie still had her arms folded.

“Hey if you sit here you’ll miss the whole song” Annie said to Jan.

Jan looked at Emery.

“Oh! Jan would you like to dance?” Emery said nervously.

“I’d love to” Jan said reassuringly.

Emery and Jan got up and walked over to the dance floor, not really holding hands or linking arms.

Why do I have to play this happy go-lucky girl even when it hurts, Annie thought.

Grey turned to Annie who was frowning.

“Y’know you’d make me a hero if you danced with me” Grey said nonchalantly.

Annie said nothing.

“I’m being honest” Grey said.

Annie said nothing for a moment.

“Alright, you’re a hero now. Let’s dance” Annie said.

Annie and Grey got up and walked onto the dance floor. Grey put his hands around Annie’s waist and she put her arm around his neck.
